Ingredients
-
Half a kilo Ground beef (500g)
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
1 large onion, chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 red bell pepper, diced
-
1 green bell pepper, diced
-
1 green chili pepper, seeds removed and diced
-
2 cups crushed tomatoes
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tablespoon tomato paste
-
1 teaspoon dried oregano
-
1 teaspoon dried basil
-
1/2 teaspoon paprika
-
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
-
1/2 teaspoon Kuwaiti Spice Mix or any other beef spice mix
-
2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Directions
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell peppers to the pot. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, paprika, and dried thyme.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Once the sauce has simmered and thickened slightly, stir in the cooked macaroni.
Allow the goulash to simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the pasta is fully cooked and the flavors have melded together.
Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
Serve the American Goulash hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
